Every year in term four all the classes in the school do social dance so that the year 8 know how to waltz and do other dances for their end of year ball. Last Tuesday our class started social dance. The teachers that took our group told us the rules one being you can not say no. They taught us the dances which most of the year eights had learn’t the year before. We had an example for the year sevens and then the guys choose who they wanted to dance with. Eric( a guy from my class) choose me but the one thing that sucked was I’m short and he is tall. There were seven girls who missed out as we didn’t have enough boys. We danced to two songs then seven girls had to change with the ones that missed out. I happened to be one of the seven girls that had to change and go sit down. One really funny thing was Holly(one of my friends) had to dance with the tallest guy and Hollys about the same height as me. Basically everyone loved social dance except some year sevens who were a bit shy.

Life Education is a programme that is run all over New Zealand. On the first week back to school in term four they came to our school (Te Awamutu Intermediate). On the third night they were at our school a 15 year old male came and burnt the trailer down. This meant that we could not participate in this programme until the next trailer came which was somewhere in the North Island. The trailer arrived a few days later but it did not have the resources they needed. The trailer is staying at Te Awamutu Primary and schools all around Te Awamutu are trying to fundraise to help pay for this programme. A group of students from Te Awamutu Intermediate are also having sausage sizzles all over Te Awamutu to help pay the teacher/instructor who has spent time and money putting together this programme. I really hope the police find the person who burnt the Life Education trailer down and make him pay for the damage.

School

I will put 100% into the finishing touches on the magazine by spending as much time as possible on it.

I am going to finish all my maths on time.

I will not do my English last minute and I will take time editing it.

I am going to improve my reading ability by reading more challenging books.

I will work together well with my Inquiry group and make sure there are no ‘hitchhikers.’

Personal

I am going to do my calf everyday possible so I can make it to the Waikato show.

I will practice my saxophone everyday so I can pass my exam.

Te Awamutu Intermediate has a wearable arts every second year and every single student has to participate. You were allowed to go in pairs and have someone different to model it but the model isn’t part of that group and has to make another one. Their were six different categories, Masks, Futurist, Culture, Nature, Big day out and Night out. I participated in big day out. I made it into the semi’s and then into the finals. Milly and Sarah’s ( the winners of big day out and the overall winners) outfitwas inspired by pebbles as a teenager. I really liked Milly and Sarah’s design and think the judges made a good decision on the overall winners but did disagree with some of their other decisions.

Olympic swimmers Dean Kent, Corney Swanepoel and Cameron Gibson were expelled from the New Zealand team following an incident which embarrassed a teammate.

The three experienced Olympians took a photograph of the drunk teammate sitting on the toilet in a prank at a social function late last week before showing it to other teammates.

Their actions were deemed inappropriate by New Zealand team chef de mission Dave Currie, who suspended Kent, Swanepoel and Gibson from the team yesterday and expelled them from the Olympic Village.

They spent their final night in Beijing at a neighbouring hotel and weren’t invited to a final team function.

I think this is ridicules that they suspended and that the New Zealand team chef shouldn’t have taken it so far. I think they made a big deal about nothing and what they do, unless it is something big is their choose and shouldn’t be punished for it as everyone makes mistakes.

Over the last two weeks our school has being trying mathletics. We got a free two week trial which ends next Monday. Mathletics has help me with geometry ( because we are doing geometry in class). I have about 3200 points but the overall all winner from new Zealand is on like 200,000 points so that put me down a bit. Also are class is not in the top 50 classes and neither is our school. The one dumb thing about mathletics is I’m basically finished all the geometry stuff and at the moment thats all that we are doing for maths. But overall I think mathletics is cool and in our class we might be buying it which it will only cost ten dollars for a year.

Recently the Olympic games started and so far we haven’t got any medals. Although we have eight rowing teams in the semi finals(that’s all the ones that went to the games). Also our sailor is coming first overall after two races and we have two swimmers in the finals. Michael Phelps is going for eight medals and he already got two. For every race I have seen he has won, and he has won by a mile. This morning I watched one of his races in slow motion and after the dive he was like 30 cm ahead. So far he has already broken a few records including an Olympic record in one of his first heats.
