Human rights are basic rights and freedoms to which all humans are entitled. All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.
Although the 1982 constitution guarantees freedom of speech, the Chinese government often uses the subversion of state power to imprison those who are critical of the government. According to the Amnesty report, the authorities have extended the use of imprisonment without trial. At a luncheon forum Wednesday on Parliament Hill, speakers said that not only have human rights abuses not improved ahead of the Olympics as Beijing promised, they have actually become worse in many ways.
I don’t think they have human rights. What do you think?

Term three started three days ago and already we have a pile of work to do like wearable arts, speeches, pubertal change, maths, argument writing inquiry and also every week we have to post a new post on our blog. Today we had pubertal change and we had to list all the things that happen to you when you go through puberty in a group. Our group had the most answers but some of them were wrong because we had a year 7 in our group who put random things down and the teacher said we weren’t allowed to change them.
Also in a few weeks time we have student led interviews were I take the interview instead of the teacher. I really don’t like doing the conference because even though I am pretty good it makes me feel weird speaking in front of my mum being all serious.

School goals:
I am going to improve my reading ability by reading bigger and more challenging books
I think that I have challenged myself more than I did last year but I still need to read more challenging books.
I am going to improve my maths by asking for help if I don’t understand something
I think I have improved in my maths but I might ask the teacher for help maybe to often.
I am going to hand in ALL my work on time and put 110% in all of my work
I think I have handed in my work on time but maybe could have put a bit more effort in.
I am going to improve my saxophone skills by practising four times a week every week
I haven’t practised playing saxophone fours times a week so I still need to work on that goal.
Personal goals:
To improve my tennis skills by practising four or more times a week for 30 minutes
I also haven’t practised my tennis skills fours times a week so I need to work on that goal as well

Today we had to do two maths the first was a algebra test and the second one was a measurement and geometry. For the measurement and geometry test only one person did good, my friend Holly and the teacher said that she was going to be the only one in her maths group. But I started the test late because I had to do the teachers dishes with my friend. In the afternoon we started to talk about what we are going to do next term and turns out we have to make an outfit for the wearable arts competition. We also have to write and book review and do a visual language on a book. Next term we also have to do a speech and this year it can be on anything you want. I haven’t decided yet what I am definitely doing but I am thinking about doing a question on the price of dairy products and are we getting ripped of by dairy companies.

This year all the students of Te Awamutu Intermediate have to do a science fair project. Before we started our own science fair project we did two experiments in classso we knew what we were doing. The first experiment we did in class was paper darts and if the body shape of a dart affects its flight distance. We did this experiment in a group so we wouldn’t waste paper. The second experiment was melting ice and we had to find out which one makes ice melt faster adding sugar or adding salt. It took about 40 minutes till the first ice cube was actually melted. Overall adding salt made the ice melt fastest. I enjoyed doing the ice melting experiment and decided to do the opposite for my science fair. Which makes water boil faster salt or sugar. At the moment all I have to do is write up all my information and stick it on my board and i’m done.

I am was just amazed at his guts to fight testicular cancer, which should have, according to the odds against him which were less than 3%, killed him. The thing that inspired me the most was his determination because after facing and beating cancer he still had the determination to pick up his bike and become the best cyclist in the world.
This book inspired me a lot and made me think how much courage and willpower some people have. Reading this book has made me admire Lance Armstrong and all that he has done. My favourite part of the book is when he said that having testicular cancer has made him the man he is today and that cancer has made him see what’s good in life. I think most people over 10 years would like this but it will speak to adults more as some children may not understand it.

Today at 1:30pm our class had a badminton lesson. Our classes session had to be shorter than all the other classes. My friend Sarah does badminton lesson so I wanted to face her and see if I could bet her. Firstly we had to try get the ball as close to roof as possible without hitting it. We had to do that for about five minutes. After a couple of minutes I got the hang of it and could just about hit the roof. He then made us get partners and hit over the net ten times. Obviously I picked Sarah we did some really high hits but I hardly could get my serves over the net. again he stopped us and we had to change game because we were running out of time. This time we had to get into groups of six except three people which went on the three courts. We played singles Patrick was the person to beat, we played for five minutes and Patrick ended up winning. The last activity we did was our whole class split into two teams and we played each other. I found it fun except Ryan was in front of me and he is really tall and when the ball came towards me he would hit it. I really enjoyed the lessons I am thinking about starting lessons on Wednesday’s.

Friday the 16th of may we had our final art lesson. For art we were making masks. Before we started to make our masks I had a picture in my head of what it was going to look like it looked something like this but a full head.

Along the process it ended up a lot different and had no picture in my head. Now it was the last day of art and we had to finish, all I had to do is repaint the mask, put glitter along the top, repaint some of the back-round and stick a whole lot of feathers on. So I did everything quickly and all I had left was to put my feathers on. I asked my teacher for my feathers and she said their was only a blue and pink I could use. The bad news was that my mask was purple and grey. I went along with the flow and my friend and I put the feathers on. Their was another bad thing we had to use a hot glue gun and my friend and I are very clumsy so we burn’t ourselves lots and lots of time. I really like my mask because its crazy looking. You might think it ugly but to me its wacky and beautiful.

I woke up at about 8:20am and ran downstairs to get ready for netball even though my game wasn’t till 2:00pm. Grabbing an up and go out of the fridge I sat down and watched T.V. After a Couple of hours I decided to get ready for netball. So I got changed, checked I had no jewellery on, cut my nails, brushed my teeth and brushed my hair when my sister said I had to go to town to help Andrew( her boyfriend) get a charm for his mum for mothers day.At quarter to one he had decided what one he wanted so he got it and we left for netball. When we got to netball it was only like one o’clock and my game wasn’t until two. I decided to watch my coach play netball but her game finished at ten past one so I couldn’t find anyone to talk to when I saw my cousin. We talked for like 20minutes when I saw most of my team was here. I went where all my team mates were and we started warming up. At two the buzzer went , it was our time to start playing netball. At the end of the first quarter we were wining 9-1. But they had a good second quarter and court up. After the third quarter we were losing 14-22. When the game finished we lost 21-26.
